Relay Protection Electrical Technician (IBEW)

Location: Fulton, California; onsite work required

Salary: $81.55 per hour, subject to collectively bargained wage rates and increases.

What you will do

• Install, program, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor protective relays.
• Test and commission switchgear, network relays, automation systems, and integrated electrical systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot SCADA, EMS, remote-control, and data-acquisition systems.
• Perform electrical power switching and submit clearance applications to the Operations Control Center.
• Maintain engineering drawings, complete test reports, and record and file test results.
• Direct and train Electrical Technician apprentices and collaborate with other technicians in the field.

Requirements

• Must be able to work onsite in Fulton, California, predominantly outdoors and in all weather conditions.
• At least 18 years of age and a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one on the first day of employment.
• Three years of experience testing protective relay equipment in a power station or high-voltage substation, or relevant electrical technician training and education.
• Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays; safely operate a vehicle; and wear required PPE.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work on ladders, elevated structures, uneven terrain, and around energized and rotating equipment.

Nice to have

• Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, or a two-year associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology with two years of relay and control experience.
• Previous Journeyman Electrical Technician experience with at least two years in relay and control.
• High-voltage electrical experience and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Military experience in power production.
