Electrical Technician (Power Generation) - Memphis

Location: On-site at the power generation facility in Southaven, Mississippi or Memphis, Tennessee; potential travel to other SpaceX sites.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain generators, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, motors, VFDs, UPS units, automatic transfer switches, and emergency or black-start equipment up to 13.5 kV and 34.8 kV.
• Execute switching, isolation, lockout/tagout, breaker racking, and restoration of medium-voltage equipment in accordance with plant procedures and NFPA 70E.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults across distribution, protection, grounding, lighting, and auxiliary systems using diagrams, schematics, and electrical test equipment.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Support plant startups, shutdowns, outages, commissioning, alarms, trips, and equipment failure investigations with operations, controls, engineering, and utility personnel.
• Install and maintain electrical equipment, cable, control wiring, work orders, switching records, and as-found/as-left documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• At least 3 years of experience as an electrical technician, industrial electrician, or in a similar role maintaining industrial or power generation electrical systems.
• Experience with medium-voltage systems, including switchgear, transformers, breakers, motors, VFDs, MCCs, UPS systems, and plant auxiliary equipment.
• Ability to read single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and equipment O&M manuals, and use electrical test equipment.
• Experience with LOTO, switching procedures, NFPA 70E, arc-flash safety, PPE, and hazardous work environments.
• Must be able to work on-site at the power generation facility, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and rotating or on-call schedules.

Nice to have

• Journeyman electrician license or equivalent formal electrical training.
• Experience in a power plant, generating station, or other high-reliability industrial facility.
• Experience with CMMS or work-order systems.
