Lead Engineer (Power Generation) - Memphis

Location: Southaven, Mississippi or Memphis, Tennessee, United States; onsite power plant and infrastructure work

What you will do

• Lead engineers and multidisciplinary teams in the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical systems for power generation plants.
• Design electrical distribution systems, switchgear, motor control centers, lighting, UPS units, generators, automatic transfer switches, and grounding systems.
• Develop and support plant control systems, ladder logic, power monitoring, communications networks, wiring, fire alarms, and lightning protection.
• Provide engineering support for plant operation, troubleshooting, equipment evaluation, load-flow analysis, and power-budget compatibility.
• Coordinate electrical installation and maintenance activities with local utility personnel.
• Review designs and installations for compliance with applicable electrical, building, fire, and safety codes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or another engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of professional experience with electrical projects, power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS units, and/or generators.
• Ability to read power and control schematics and technical equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced engineering environment.
• Working knowledge of applicable standards, including NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, NESC, IEEE, and IBC.

Nice to have

• At least 3 years of management experience and 5 or more years in a similar role.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Power plant or power generation electrical systems experience.
• Experience with variable frequency drives, industrial pumps, MODBUS controls, medium-voltage distribution, control panel design, power coordination, and arc-flash analysis.
