Founding Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City, hybrid; four days onsite, or three days onsite for employees located more than one hour away

Salary: $230,000–$300,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Manage and scale infrastructure supporting clinical-note audits across millions of criteria each day.
• Define infrastructure patterns that improve latency, reliability, and cost effectiveness, including real-time audit capabilities.
• Improve developer productivity through CI/CD, local development, and testing environments.
• Establish observability practices and reliability metrics across services and AI pipelines processing billions of tokens daily.
• Manage infrastructure and developer tooling spend while stewarding SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance.
• Consolidate SSO, identity, device management, and access controls across internal tools.

Requirements

• Senior individual contributor with 5+ years of platform engineering experience and ownership of an infrastructure or platform function.
• Production infrastructure experience at an early-stage startup and a high degree of autonomy.
• Deep AWS and infrastructure-as-code experience.
• Production-level programming skills in Python and TypeScript.
• Experience managing cloud costs and targeting a defined cloud-bill amount.
• Experience managing software compliance audits, such as SOC 2, and working with sensitive data in healthcare or another regulated industry.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM infrastructure, including inference cost management, gateways, tracing, and evaluations.
• Experience with platforms such as Vercel, Azure Foundry, Claude Platform, OpenAI Platform, Gemini, and ClickHouse.
• Experience rolling out an identity provider such as Okta.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading a small team.
