Senior Trial Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Location: Hybrid role reporting to the Rocky Hill, Connecticut office; periodic in-person team meetings in Connecticut are required. The position requires an active Connecticut license; Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island licensure is a plus.

Salary: $138,000–$243,000 annually; expected starting range: $138,000–$206,000.

What you will do

• Represent clients independently as lead counsel or as part of a litigation team across assigned courts and agencies.
• Handle civil litigation involving bodily injury, commercial and personal property, premises liability, products liability, uninsured and underinsured motorists, wrongful death, and related claims.
• Manage complex caseloads, case valuations, litigation strategies, court procedures, and client communications.
• Provide legally and analytically sound opinions while maintaining productive case volume and high-quality work product.
• Build professional relationships with claims partners, legal stakeholders, clients, and referral sources.
• Mentor junior attorneys and staff through coaching, training, feedback, and role modeling.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Connecticut attorney license required.
• Typically more than eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.
• Significant trial advocacy, negotiation, analytical, legal research, case management, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff both onsite and remotely, adapt to legal and technology changes, and manage complex priorities.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; credit and/or background checks are required.

Nice to have

• Licensure in Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island.
• Admission to federal court.
• Experience in subrogation recovery.
