Senior Litigation Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Location: Glendale, California, United States; travel is required to attend court events, depositions, and other business appointments.

Annual base salary: $132,800–$219,100, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Independently manage higher-exposure insurance defense cases and complex litigation from inception through trial and appeal.
• Try cases to verdict, negotiate resolutions, and handle hearings, depositions, dispositive motions, and other court proceedings.
• Conduct advanced legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Analyze cases and recommend file-handling strategies to insured clients and Claims partners.
• Work with expert witnesses and consultants to develop case strategies and prepare litigation testimony.
• Mentor attorneys and legal support staff, provide legal training, and manage client and business partner relationships.

Requirements

• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience and at least 7 years as a practicing attorney.
• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Proven jury trial experience, advanced oral and written advocacy skills, and experience with summary judgment or appellate matters.
• Strong negotiation, legal research, writing, presentation, decision-making, relationship management, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to travel to hearings, trials, depositions, and other proceedings; a valid driver's license may be required depending on location.
