Trial Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Location: Hybrid role requiring time in the Southfield, Michigan office. Travel to job-related activities is required, and irregular hours may be necessary. Applicants must be eligible to work lawfully in the U.S. immediately; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $145,000–$160,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive pay of up to 24% of base salary.

What you will do

• Handle civil litigation and other legal assignments under Law Department guidelines.
• Own assigned case files throughout the litigation process.
• Develop trial strategies and case plans.
• Prepare and summarize reports for legal proceedings.
• Attend trials, mediations, depositions, hearings, and other litigation events.
• Meet with clients and collaborate with attorneys and support staff.

Requirements

• 5+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, No Fault/PIP, bodily injury, or premises liability litigation.
• Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law.
• Experience with trials, mediations, and depositions, plus effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently with electronic case files and working knowledge of case management and document storage systems.
• J.D. from an A.B.A.-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
• Active Michigan law license and membership in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan required.
