Senior Counsel (Insurance Defense)

Location: San Antonio, Texas, United States; remote, hybrid, or onsite work options are available. An active Texas bar license is required.

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys may also receive an annual billable-hours bonus.

What you will do

• Develop compelling case themes for defense litigation.
• Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, trials, discovery, and full case management.
• Prepare for and conduct expert depositions.
• Communicate routinely with clients and cultivate client relationships.
• Lead litigation teams and provide direction to less experienced attorneys and staff.
• Collaborate with attorneys and colleagues across experience levels.

Requirements

• JD from an ABA-approved school.
• Active license to practice in Texas is required.
• 8+ years of litigation experience, including litigation support, deposition, and trial preparation.
• Significant civil litigation and trial experience; first- or second-chair experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience handling insurance defense matters, with excess insurance or commercial litigation experience preferred.
• Ability to manage all aspects of discovery and trial, work independently, use time-management systems, communicate effectively, and lead or mentor junior attorneys.

• Experience in excess insurance or commercial litigation.
