Insurance Defense Trial Attorney

Location: Hybrid role requiring office attendance in St. Petersburg, Florida. Travel to trials, mediations, depositions, hearings, and other job-related activities is required. Attorneys living in Sarasota may be considered if willing to drive to Charlotte and Lee Counties.

Potential starting salary: $107,000–$195,000 per year, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 24% of base salary.

What you will do

• Handle insurance defense litigation and other legal assignments under Law Department guidelines.
• Own caseloads from inception through conclusion.
• Develop trial strategies and cases throughout litigation.
• Prepare and summarize reports for legal proceedings.
• Attend trials, mediations, depositions, hearings, and other litigation events.
• Meet with clients and collaborate with attorneys and support staff.

Requirements

• 3–10 years of civil or trial experience handling bodily injury or uninsured motorist automobile injury lawsuits is strongly preferred.
• Criminal jury trial experience may be considered.
• Experience with jury trials, mediations, and depositions, plus file ownership and knowledge of applicable discovery rules, trial procedures, and substantive law.
• J.D. from an A.B.A.-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
• Active Florida law license and membership in good standing with the State Bar of Florida required.
• Must be eligible to work lawfully in the United States immediately; visa sponsorship is not available.
