Engineering Manager - Data Platform (AI)

Location: Berlin, Germany, with remote-friendly options including working from another location for up to 3 months inside the EU and UK.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow the data engineering team responsible for the data platform and infrastructure.
• Own reliable delivery and operational excellence, including quality, observability, SLAs/SLOs, on-call, and incident management.
• Partner with Analytics, Product, Data Science, and Engineering to prioritize and deliver platform capabilities.
• Drive scalable data platform architecture for governed AI and agent workloads.
• Establish ownership, engineering practices, and predictable delivery while improving performance, cost, and sustainability.

Requirements

• Experience managing and developing data engineers in a data platform, infrastructure, or internal-product environment.
• Experience delivering and operating production systems involving data pipelines, modeling, schema evolution, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and incident management.
• Experience collaborating with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and Engineering stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of data platform architecture, cloud infrastructure, data processing, streaming, orchestration, and analytics tools.
• Practical knowledge of access controls, IAM, least-privilege patterns, encryption, lineage, audit logging, and governance for AI or agent workloads.
• Strong English proficiency is required; English is the company’s operating language.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Terraform, Databricks, Kinesis, dbt, Airflow, or similar technologies.
