Director, Enterprise Data Platform & Engineering

Location: McLean, Virginia; hybrid, with 3 days per week onsite. Candidates based in the Tysons vicinity are prioritized.

Annual base salary: $155,500–$270,000, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the enterprise data strategy, technical architecture, and Medallion bronze/silver/gold data platform.
• Translate GTM, product telemetry, financial reporting, and executive priorities into governed data products and a prioritized roadmap.
• Lead and coach a small team of data engineers and analysts, reviewing data models and pipelines and resolving technical decisions.
• Define data governance standards for quality, access, lineage, and shared business definitions.
• Lead the selection and rollout of data platform, analytics, visualization, self-service BI, and AI-enablement tools.
• Partner with business functions on analytics supporting pipeline generation, prospecting, expansion, renewal, rep productivity, and product telemetry.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering and/or data platform management, including 5+ years leading data platform, data engineering, or analytics teams.
• Hands-on proficiency with SQL and dbt or a comparable transformation and orchestration solution.
• Experience architecting and operating enterprise-scale cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, with orchestration and EL/ETL tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Fivetran.
• Experience delivering data platform strategy end to end, including architecture, governance, business adoption, and agile delivery.
• Strong communication, prioritization, stakeholder management, and executive advisory skills.
• Proven experience hiring, coaching, and developing a small senior technical team.

Nice to have

• Experience with Medallion or similar layered data architectures.
• Experience with Tableau, Sigma, Omni, or other self-service BI tools for non-technical analysts.
• Familiarity with native AI/ML capabilities in cloud data platforms, such as Snowflake Cortex.
• Experience in a B2B software or SaaS company supporting FP&A, GTM, and executive reporting.
