Engineering Manager, Data Infrastructure (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY; hybrid policy requires staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and mentor the Data Warehouse & Streaming Infrastructure team.
• Own data warehousing, streaming, processing, operations, reliability, security, governance, and cost management.
• Scale data ingestion, event streaming, change data capture, storage, orchestration, compute, querying, and reporting systems.
• Define and execute batch and streaming infrastructure roadmaps while balancing immediate needs with durable design.
• Make platform decisions for the streaming backbone, including managed versus self-operated Kafka.
• Partner with Finance, Product, Research, and Engineering, and drive hiring and data quality standards.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing data infrastructure teams.
• Hands-on expertise in batch and streaming infrastructure, warehousing, pipelines, orchestration, event streaming, and change data capture.
• Understanding of distributed log systems, including partitioning, delivery guarantees, and backpressure.
• Experience owning systems with significant business or financial impact while improving reliability, scalability, security, and cost.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.
• Ability to work from San Francisco or New York and attend an office at least 25% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, Iceberg, Spark, dbt, or Airflow.
• Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Flink, or Debezium at high scale.
• Experience with multi-cloud or multi-region data platforms and data-residency requirements.
• Experience supporting AI or ML-intensive data workflows, observability, and monitoring at scale.
