Health Unit Coordinator Emergency Department Full Time Nights

Location: 10400 Haligus Rd, Huntley, Illinois, United States; onsite, 12-hour night shifts

Salary: $17.05–$25.58 per hour

What you will do

• Provide unit reception, patient registration, clerical support, and medical record management.
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, census validation, chart preparation, signatures, and document processing.
• Enter and verify physician orders, retrieve laboratory results, and support timely delivery of medications, supplies, and diagnostic services.
• Answer telephones, monitor camera and door-entry systems, conduct inquiry calls, and direct information to appropriate staff.
• Communicate with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other departments while providing explanations and reassurance.
• Prioritize changing unit needs, manage emergency situations, and support workflow improvements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge and competence with order entry, records, results, and documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to identify when an interpreter is required and use interpreter services effectively.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to remain organized and calm under stress.
• Previous Health Unit Coordinator or hospital experience is preferred; one year of experience in a relevant clinical specialty is preferred.
