Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Cancer Pain Specialist (Oncology) (Cancer pain management): Providing comprehensive evaluation and ongoing management of acute and chronic cancer-related pain across the oncology continuum with an accent on individualized treatment plans, safe opioid prescribing, and coordination with oncology, hematology, survivorship, and palliative care specialists. Focus on managing complex pain needs for cancer survivors, stem cell transplant recipients, and patients with sickle cell disease while improving symptom management and continuity of care.

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite, four 10-hour day shifts Monday–Friday

Salary: USD 61–79.67 per hour

What you will do

  • Evaluate and manage acute and chronic cancer-related pain across the oncology continuum.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and oversee safe opioid prescribing and monitoring.
  • Provide direct clinical care, prescribe or order therapies, and order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and procedures within clinical privileges.
  • Coordinate care with oncology, hematology, survivorship, palliative care, and other specialists.
  • Educate patients, families, staff, and professional groups on pain management and related care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, research, mentoring, committees, and continuing education programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited nursing school or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Illinois licensure and applicable APRN or Physician Assistant certification and credentials are required.
  • Privileging and credentialing through the Medical Staff Office.
  • Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • At least two years of advanced practice provider experience, including pain management or palliative care experience.
  • Ability to obtain a controlled substance license and DEA number once licensed.
