Registered Nurse, RN - Oncology Care Unit (OCU) (Oncology)

Location: Oncology Care Unit, Main Campus at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time day shift, 36 hours per week; weekends and holidays required.

Salary: $37.50–$68.47 per hour, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

• Provide direct professional nursing care to oncology patients and their families according to physician orders, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct and document clinical assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Use professional nursing judgment to adapt care plans to patient needs and changing health status.
• Educate patients and families, support informed decisions, and coordinate discharge planning with appropriate referrals and community resources.
• Manage patient assignments, delegate care according to patient needs and team-member skills, and collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team.
• Support performance improvement, evidence-based practice, professional development, departmental committees, and the transition and growth of new staff.

Requirements

• Massachusetts RN licensure required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Department-specific certifications relevant to oncology and the patient population may be required.
• RN experience must meet the requirements of the applicable career pathway level: Level I, less than 12 months; Level II, 12 months to less than 3 years; Level III, 3 to less than 8 years; Level IV, 8 years or more.
• Ability to apply the nursing process and communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team.
• Ability to perform prolonged standing and walking, patient turning, and occasional lifting of 30–35 pounds, with exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, and potentially carcinogenic chemicals.
