Senior Director, Translational Medicine and Clinical Biomarkers (Oncology)

Salary: $280,400–$316,500 per year for roles based in the San Francisco Bay Area

What you will do

• Own and evolve the clinical biomarker strategy across the full oncology and immunology portfolio.
• Interpret biomarker data to guide patient stratification, response prediction, resistance analysis, dose selection, and program decisions.
• Direct biomarker assay capabilities, qualification standards, platform strategy, and vendor or CRO oversight.
• Evaluate and adopt novel biomarker technologies across flow cytometry, molecular biology, proteomics, and tissue-based assays.
• Lead matrixed teams across clinical development, research, regulatory, and external collaborations, embedding biomarker data into clinical and regulatory plans.
• Manage and develop direct reports while contributing to due diligence, business development, partnerships, and executive or Board discussions.

Requirements

• Advanced degree, with a Ph.D. or MD strongly preferred, and 12+ years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech experience.
• Significant clinical-stage drug development experience and deep translational biomarker expertise in immunology, oncology, or hematology.
• Demonstrated success leading biomarker strategy across multiple clinical programs or indications and influencing trial design and regulatory submissions.
• Experience authoring clinical protocols, informed consent forms, laboratory manuals, and investigator meeting materials.
• Proven people leadership experience, including management of at least one direct report and team-scaling experience.
• Executive-level communication, strategic judgment, and the ability to influence senior leadership, Board members, and external partners.
