Principal Cabin Stress Engineer (Contract)

Location: On-site in the Mobile, Alabama area or Wichita, Kansas; onsite work required 100%

What you will do

• Perform detailed static and dynamic stress analyses of cabin and cargo components using classical hand calculations and finite element methods.
• Support structural design from the conceptual phase through development and certification for new and modified components.
• Review supplier stress substantiation reports for compliance with aircraft design requirements and sign off on data.
• Coordinate with design engineers, suppliers, and technical leads to deliver optimized structural solutions on schedule.
• Set objectives, define work plans, and lead highly complex structural analysis activities.
• Mentor less experienced analysts and provide technical guidance across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace, civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, with emphasis on structural or systems design and installation.
• At least 13 years of design experience involving cabin, cargo, or system installation projects.
• Strong experience with implicit and explicit linear and nonlinear finite element modeling.
• Knowledge of tools such as Nastran, LS-Dyna, Abaqus, Radioss, or Altair HyperWorks.
• In-depth knowledge of engineering design principles, theories, concepts, documentation, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to work on-site and travel independently on short notice.

• Experience using Google Suite.
