Staff Launch Structural Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States, or Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States. On-site work and a US government background check are required for clearance at the Cape Canaveral location.

Salary: $150,000–$226,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Develop civil and structural engineering designs for new and modified launch and test site infrastructure.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, design documents, and technical reports.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, heavy civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and industrial requirements.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, fluids, electrical, command and control, mechanical, and operations teams during launch and test processing.
• Provide engineering support throughout procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance.
• Review technical requirements and construction documentation to identify engineering issues and required changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of civil or structural design experience in aerospace, construction, or a related engineering industry.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Working knowledge of AISC, ACI 318, ASCE 7, and IBC standards and codes.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, structural analysis software, and 3D CAD models.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams, perform technical analysis, make engineering decisions, and communicate with engineering, construction, and project stakeholders.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of civil or structural design experience.
• Advanced degree or formal training in engineering, construction, operations, or project management.
• Experience with aerospace facilities, systems, ground support equipment, launch operations, or aerospace safety requirements.
• Experience with construction drawings, bid packages, permitting, QA/QC, safety documentation, and construction management.
