Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer

What you will do

• Triage, reproduce, analyze, and fix production embedded Linux firmware defects using field reports, telemetry, and crash data.
• Maintain Yocto layers, recipes, BSP integrations, kernel and bootloader components, and upgrade to newer Yocto LTS releases.
• Improve reproducible builds, image and release pipelines, CI integration, SDK/SSTATE hygiene, image size, and boot-time performance.
• Harden OTA update flows, including A/B updates, rollback and recovery, failure telemetry, image signing, and secure boot considerations.
• Debug Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, provisioning, cloud connectivity, device-tree, GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART, sensor, and actuator behavior.
• Define software requirements, collaborate with hardware, cloud, QA, and product engineers, and maintain unit, integration, and on-target tests.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of professional embedded firmware development experience on shipped products.
• Expert-level C and embedded Linux experience, including userspace and kernel-adjacent work.
• Hands-on Yocto Project experience with recipes, layers, BSP integration, and product release upgrades.
• Experience developing on resource-constrained MCUs with an RTOS, including scheduling, synchronization, interrupt latency, and memory budgeting.
• Strong low-level hardware skills covering bring-up, bare-metal and driver debugging, JTAG/SWD, peripheral buses, interrupts, DMA, and power constraints.
• Practical Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy experience, plus working knowledge of Go, Python, Git workflows, CI, code review, and issue tracking.

Nice to have

• Zephyr RTOS experience or experience porting products from Yocto Linux to Zephyr.
• Smart home, consumer IoT, Matter, Thread, Zigbee, or other connected-device experience.
• C++17+, low-power optimization, device security, on-device ML inference, or signal-processing experience.
• Memfault or other device observability platforms, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or automated on-target test rigs.
• Contributions to Yocto or other upstream embedded open-source projects.
