Principal Software Engineer - Yocto OS Build (Yocto)

Location: Lafayette, Colorado, United States; office role with U.S. work authorization requirements.

Salary: $152,800–$229,200 per year, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead OS-layer development and maintenance for new and released products in the Capital Products portfolio.
• Develop and maintain embedded platform software, Yocto-based Linux distributions, and custom build infrastructure.
• Create CI/CD pipelines integrated with security automation tools.
• Develop and maintain BSP software, embedded hypervisors, and Linux device drivers.
• Support networking security, secure boot, and OTA update mechanisms.
• Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to define platform capabilities and engineering policies.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of software development experience with a bachelor's degree, 5 years with a master's degree, or 3 years with a PhD in engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong experience with Yocto and embedded Linux platform development.
• Experience with Xilinx SoC-based embedded systems, including AMD Zynq 7000, Zynq UltraScale+, or Kria SOM.
• Knowledge of BSP and OS layers, boot flows, device security, build systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Python, Bash, GNU Make, Docker, Artifactory, Git, and related Atlassian or GitHub/GitLab tools.
• U.S. work authorization sponsorship is available for Principal-level roles and above; the role is based in the United States.

• Familiarity with Agile software development and Scrum.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
