Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer (Yocto)

Location: Hybrid — 3 days per week onsite in Westford, United States

What you will do

• Contribute to the full embedded software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architecture through development, testing, integration, validation, and deployment.
• Design, develop, and maintain embedded applications running on Yocto-based Linux systems.
• Build multithreaded, multiprocess, and real-time applications in C and C++.
• Optimize software for performance, reliability, maintainability, and security, including CVE remediation.
• Debug software and hardware-related issues using development and test tools, and participate in code reviews and verification activities.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and international engineering teams on connected embedded solutions using Azure IoT.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded software development.
• Strong experience with embedded Yocto Linux systems, Yocto, and BitBake.
• Strong programming skills in C and C++, with experience in multithreaded, multiprocess, and real-time applications.
• Experience with Azure IoT or similar IoT platforms, formal software development methodologies, planning, estimation, and technical documentation.
• Hands-on debugging experience with GDB, I2C debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, plus strong analytical and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of network programming, communication protocols, software security, and CVE remediation.
• Experience with UL/ULc certification standards and safety-critical, industrial, IoT, or connected embedded systems.
• Experience with Git, Artifactory, JIRA, Integrity, Bash, Make, Python, Atlassian tools, or Confluence.
