Firmware Engineer II (Embedded Systems)

Location: Waukesha, WI, USA; occasional travel to hirify.global facilities and customer sites.

What you will do

• Develop C-based application software and firmware for embedded controllers, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.
• Define interface requirements and create communication interfaces and system algorithms.
• Design control algorithms and provide applications engineering support for new technology prototypes.
• Develop firmware and software modules, maintain documentation and repositories, and participate in design reviews.
• Create, execute, and evaluate firmware and hardware test specifications in laboratory and prototype environments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams working on engines, transfer switches, alternators, and related control interfaces.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a directly related engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of embedded programming experience with C, C++, or C#.
• Basic knowledge of communication protocols and hardware interfaces.
• Ability to perform detail-oriented engineering work, solve basic engineering problems, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work onsite in Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA and travel occasionally to facilities or customer sites.

Nice to have

• Experience with RTOS, state machines, algorithm design, and microcontroller debugging tools.
• Experience with hardware interfacing techniques such as I2C, SPI, and EEPROM.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, GitHub, repository management, or server administration.
• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals.
