Senior Product Design Engineer (React/TypeScript)

Location: Worldwide; fully remote and async

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, with equity included and the same salary regardless of location.

What you will do

• Own core product surfaces from concept through production-ready components, including booking flows, scheduling primitives, and team and enterprise experiences.
• Build and test working prototypes in code using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and v0.
• Design, engineer, and maintain reusable components and primitives with correct semantics, real states, and production-ready behavior.
• Improve the coss ui component library by auditing existing primitives, closing gaps, refining patterns, and contributing new components.
• Apply design-system tokens, spacing, states, dark mode, motion, and accessibility consistently across product surfaces.
• Frame hypotheses, define success, collaborate asynchronously, document decisions, and follow outcomes through implementation and iteration.

Requirements

• Product design experience combined with substantial design engineering experience and ownership of complex product areas from framing through launch and iteration.
• Strong HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React skills, with the ability to turn design ideas into working interfaces independently.
• Deep expertise in headless primitive composition, such as Base UI, Radix, or similar systems.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems, including reusable components and primitives.
• Knowledge of web standards, platform primitives, WCAG, ARIA, assistive technology, keyboard navigation, focus management, contrast, and motion preferences.
• Strong written communication, collaboration, autonomy, and ability to work effectively in an async environment.

Nice to have

• Open-source contributions or publicly available side projects.
• Familiarity with hirify.global, scheduling, calendaring, time zones, or recurrence rules.
• Working knowledge of locale- and time-aware APIs such as Intl.DateTimeFormat.
