Applied AI Engineer (AI)

Location: London, UK. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more office attendance. Travel to customer sites is required for workshops and implementation support.

Annual salary: £225,000–£255,000 GBP. For sales roles, compensation ranges may include OTE; this role is described as an applied engineering position.

What you will do

• Advise high-growth, tech-forward companies on building innovative products with the Claude Developer Platform.
• Partner with customer engineering teams through pair programming, architecture reviews, and production code contributions.
• Develop prototypes, evaluation suites, technical documentation, architecture diagrams, tutorials, and sample code.
• Design scalable architectures and identify patterns across customer engagements for Product, Engineering, and Applied AI teams.
• Support developer communities through hackathons, webinars, technical office hours, and technical events.
• Travel to customer sites for workshops, implementation support, and relationship building.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, or technical founder.
• Experience in customer-facing or pre-sales technical roles involving solution scoping, design, and delivery.
• Production experience building LLM-powered applications, including prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale.
• Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python and experience building production applications.
• Ability to work across industries and translate complex AI concepts into architectural decisions and implementation plans.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.
