Principal AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, or the United Kingdom. Listed cities include Athens, Barcelona, Dublin, London, and Madrid.

Salary: €104,800–€165,700 EUR annual base salary; no variable compensation.

What you will do

• Own the production improvement loop for the Context Engine, diagnosing failure modes in extraction automations, retrieval tools, and memory.
• Define safe iteration practices for agents and skills, including versioning, prompt and automation rollouts, regression coverage, and staged or shadow evaluation.
• Design telemetry for agent traces, tool calls, and knowledge retrieval, and connect it to hirify.globalsearch, dashboards, and feedback loops.
• Partner with data scientists on golden datasets and evaluators for quality, latency, and cost.
• Review designs and pull requests, mentor engineers in evaluation-driven development, and write technical proposals shaping the roadmap.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including recent experience shipping and operating AI-driven products in production.
• Experience diagnosing agent or LLM behaviour from traces and user feedback, designing evaluations, shipping fixes, and measuring outcomes.
• Hands-on experience building agents with state and memory and safely iterating on prompts, skills, and tools.
• Experience with MCP, public APIs, evolving data models, AI telemetry, and end-to-end product experiments.
• Strong backend engineering skills in Python or TypeScript, including APIs, stateful workflows, data pipelines, and production services.
• Ability to collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers in a distributed, async-first environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangGraph, CrewAI, Claude Agent SDK, or similar agent frameworks.
• Agentic retrieval and knowledge representation experience.
• Practical hirify.globalsearch experience.
