Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; onsite manufacturing role

Salary: $111,973–$141,832 per year, plus bonus opportunity

What you will do

• Support the transition of a next-generation ion beam deposition platform from development into sustained production.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, assembly methods, test strategies, and production documentation.
• Implement modular build and test strategies to improve quality, scalability, yield, throughput, and operational efficiency.
• Partner with hardware, quality, reliability, software, service, and manufacturing engineering teams during design reviews and commercialization.
• Lead root-cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, CAPA, and other structured problem-solving methods.
• Drive PFMEA, Control Plan, process validation, risk reduction, and manufacturing improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, industrial engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 8 years of manufacturing engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience.
• Experience with complex electromechanical products in manufacturing, sustaining engineering, NPI, or production scale-up environments.
• Experience with PFMEA, process validation, risk assessment, Control Plans, manufacturing quality systems, and root-cause analysis.
• Ability to influence cross-functional technical decisions without direct authority and manage multiple priorities independently.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, GD&T requirements, electrical schematics, and manufacturing documentation.

Nice to have

• Semiconductor capital equipment experience.
• Experience with vacuum systems, thin-film processing, ion beam systems, cryogenic systems, automation, or other highly engineered electromechanical products.
• Experience transitioning products from development into production.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
• SAP or other ERP system experience.
