Country Liaison Officer - Naoero

Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; applicants must be based in or willing to relocate to Brisbane, with valid Australian work rights and a current Australian driver license. The role requires frequent travel across Australia, including interstate travel and work outside regular hours when needed.

What you will do

• Provide culturally appropriate welfare and pastoral support, including information about rights, responsibilities, services, and referral options.
• Maintain regular contact with workers and build relationships with Approved Employers, worker wellbeing officers, government agencies, and support services.
• Support workers facing personal, social, cultural, or workplace adjustment challenges and escalate complex or sensitive welfare matters.
• Conduct workplace and accommodation visits across Australia to identify emerging concerns.
• Assist with critical incidents involving serious illness, injury, death, domestic violence, mental health incidents, or criminal matters.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare monthly activity reports, quarterly welfare reports, and ad hoc updates.

Requirements

• Valid Australian work rights, current Australian driver license, and willingness to be based in or relocate to Brisbane are required.
• Strong understanding of dei-Naoero culture, customs, and community values, with experience supporting Naoero or Pacific communities in Australia.
• Clear written and spoken English communication skills and the ability to build respectful relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in community engagement, welfare support, labour mobility, public administration, or a related field.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, meet reporting requirements, and follow formal referral and escalation processes.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, digital communication platforms, and record or case management systems; frequent travel across Australia is required.

Nice to have

• Understanding of the PALM scheme and worker welfare frameworks.
• Qualifications or experience in case management, reporting, or stakeholder coordination.
