Software Engineer - Route Optimisation

What you will do

• Improve and extend route optimisation algorithms for freight ships.
• Design new optimisation and search capabilities for production services.
• Analyse routes and operational data to evaluate route quality and identify improvements.
• Contribute to software engineering across team services and tooling.
• Monitor production systems, triage logs, and investigate user-reported issues.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, domain experts, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in graph algorithms, combinatorial optimisation, or a related area.
• Background in mathematics, operations research, computer science with an algorithms focus, or equivalent practical experience.
• Approximately 1–2 years of experience building production systems.
• Ability to write and review solid code; Python or C++ experience is advantageous.
• Creative, pragmatic problem-solving approach with a strong sense of ownership.
• Fluent written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python or C++.
• Interest in AI-assisted development and modern AI tooling.
• Curiosity about maritime navigation, route analysis, and sustainability.
