Senior Quantum Software Engineer - Bring-up Software Infrastructure

Location: Denmark, Copenhagen, Kongens Lyngby; 3 days per week in-office

What you will do

• Build Python infrastructure for scalable qubit bring-up, calibration, tuning, and high-fidelity measurement routines.
• Design schedulers, resource models, concurrency and parallelism primitives, and reusable workflow components.
• Translate experimental requirements and user stories into software designs aligned with the broader bring-up architecture.
• Ensure measurement data quality through metadata consistency, validation, versioning, provenance, and reproducible analysis pipelines.
• Deliver features end-to-end, including implementation, testing, CI/CD, packaging, documentation, operationalization, and user-feedback iteration.
• Troubleshoot execution flows, scheduling conflicts, deadlocks, timing issues, and reliability problems across software boundaries.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field with software industry experience; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with solid experience or equivalent experience.
• Experience implementing highly concurrent systems, scalable execution engines, task scheduling systems, workflow orchestration frameworks, or low-latency distributed systems.
• Strong Python engineering skills, including maintainable and testable code, the standard library, scientific Python tools such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas, or xarray, and typed data modeling such as pydantic.
• Experience designing data and metadata schemas, provenance, traceability, and discoverability for workflow or scientific data pipelines.
• Experience with shared codebases, design discussions, code reviews, feature ownership, CI/CD, packaging, and dependency management.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including citizenship or protected-status verification for access to export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Doctorate or advanced software industry experience in a related technical field.
• Experience with qubit testing, characterization, calibration, bring-up routines, laboratory instrumentation, or measurement workflows.
• Experience with scientific data analysis, statistical methods, optimization, fitting, uncertainty quantification, experiment abstractions, or configuration systems.
• Experience improving reliability for hardware-interfacing code through testing, simulation, or instrument mocking.
• Familiarity with observability, telemetry, structured logging, time-series data, Kusto, or Azure Data Explorer.
