Senior Software Engineer, Internal Systems (Robotics)

What you will do

• Own the shared data model for robots, sites, customers, parts, jobs, and people.
• Develop and maintain internal systems for maintenance, manufacturing, tutoring, teleoperation, deployment, and sales handoffs.
• Translate operational processes into software by working directly with technicians, plant managers, and field teams.
• Reconcile inconsistent operational data, replace spreadsheets, and build reporting for weekly business decisions.
• Direct AI coding agents across a large internal codebase and critically review their output.
• Support users when floor or field processes are blocked and improve the underlying process when needed.

Requirements

• 6+ years of production software development experience, including ownership of internal or operational systems.
• Experience designing and evolving relational schemas and safely carrying out migrations; PostgreSQL experience is preferred.
• Full-stack fluency with TypeScript, React, and Python or TypeScript backend services.
• Ability to understand operational work directly with technicians and plant managers and build software that fits their processes.
• Experience using AI coding agents such as Claude Code for multi-step engineering tasks, with an understanding of their failure modes.
• Strong judgment about when to build software, when to buy it, and how to prioritize internal tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with MES, ERP, work orders, serialized inventory, or maintenance management.
• Experience in robotics, hardware, manufacturing, or field-service environments.
• Data warehousing and analytics experience with dbt, ClickHouse, Metabase, or similar tools.
• Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, or being the first or only engineer responsible for internal tools.
