Senior Software Engineer - AI Surfaces (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States, Seattle, or Chicago; hybrid/remote arrangement.

Salary: $126,000–$190,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship production agents end to end, including tools, prompts, context assembly, structured outputs, guardrails, services, and Word or web experiences.
• Build and maintain evaluations and instrument production systems to measure acceptance, latency, and cost per agent.
• Contribute to the agent harness, retrieval and context pipeline, model routing, and observability infrastructure.
• Deploy through feature flags, debug retrieval misses, tool-call errors, nondeterministic failures, and model regressions.
• Collaborate with product, design, founders, engineers, and customers; review code, document technical decisions, and mentor advanced engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production software in service-oriented, continuously deployed teams.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered features to real users and building full-stack web and agentic applications.
• Knowledge of API integrations, function calling, structured outputs, prompt and context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and evaluations.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or an equivalent cloud platform, including containers, CI/CD, and production debugging.
• Fluency in TypeScript or Python and ability to work with React, Node or Python services, and PostgreSQL.
• Strong fundamentals in testing, API design, data modeling, concurrency, performance, reliability, and technical communication. Good written and spoken English is required.
