Avionics Intern (Winter 2027)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site work at the Northern California headquarters

Salary: $29 per hour

What you will do

• Build and test satellite avionics flight hardware with the avionics engineering team.
• Design test equipment for validating hardware under a wide range of stressed conditions.
• Bring up and debug avionics designs in the laboratory.
• Write Python or C++ code to evaluate performance and automate satellite hardware testing.
• Assist with low-level software interfacing with spacecraft subsystems.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• Interest in designing and working with spacecraft systems and subsystems.
• Passion for hands-on hardware development in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Python and/or C++.
• Ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
• U.S. citizenship or a U.S. Green Card is required; lawful permanent residency or other protected status may also qualify under U.S. space technology export regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Altium Designer or other PCB design software.
• Experience with SPICE-based simulators such as LTSpice, PSPICE, or ADS.
• Soldering and rework experience.
• Familiarity with power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other EE lab equipment.
• Familiarity with boost and buck converter design.
