Senior Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (Next.js)

Location: Oakland, California or Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $220,500–$298,500 per year, with potential bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the technical strategy, architecture, and implementation of scalable web solutions embedded in the Credit Karma mobile application.
• Build hybrid mobile-web experiences with high performance, deep linking, state management, and seamless transitions between webviews and native components.
• Define front-end engineering standards, resolve cross-cutting dependencies, and accelerate customer, business, and technology outcomes.
• Identify and guide opportunities to integrate AI tools, agentic workflows, and LLMs into financial products.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Design, Data Science, and native Mobile Architecture teams on end-to-end solutions.
• Coach engineers across levels and drive adoption of engineering best practices across multiple teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing large-scale, consumer-facing applications and technical leadership at Staff or Senior Staff level.
• Expert proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, HTML, and CSS, including SSR, SSG, and front-end performance optimization.
• Experience building responsive web applications for iOS or Android webviews or hybrid application wrappers.
• 5+ years of experience designing distributed systems or front-end platforms serving millions of users.
• Strong communication, independent decision-making, and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to senior product and business leaders.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience integrating AI into production software.
• Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or modern AI frameworks such as LangChain.
