Quantum Qubit Design Engineer

Location: On-site in the United States, with primary locations in Hillsboro, Oregon and additional locations in Phoenix, Arizona; Folsom and Santa Clara, California; Beaver Brook, Massachusetts; New York, New York; Allentown, Pennsylvania; and Austin, Texas.

Annual salary: $141,910–$269,100 USD.

What you will do

• Establish qubit processes, design rules, standard cells, PDKs, and design automation flows with lithography, process integration, measurement, and PDK engineers.
• Design qubit and readout elements, automated place-and-route flows, routing generation, and customized EDA capabilities for large-scale quantum processors.
• Analyze signal integrity, crosstalk, extraction, thermal behavior, and routing strategies for high-density qubit processors.
• Execute qubit processor designs from PDK implementation through tapeout, fab new product introduction, design validation, and system integration.
• Co-design interposer interfaces and routing with control, packaging, and system teams, including ASIC control integration.
• Support external customers with hirify.global quantum PDK collateral, customized design environments, and successful tapeouts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of experience, Master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering, Quantum Technologies, Quantum Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• At least 1 year of experience in electromagnetic modeling and signal integrity, standard cell and design automation flows, APR routing, foundry PDK tapeouts and validation, or PDK collateral and design-flow implementation.
• Experience with industry-standard validations such as DRC, ERC, LVS, and PEX is required for relevant design experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and collaborative engineering skills.
• On-site presence in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Electrical measurement experience with qubits, quantum devices, transistors, or integrated circuits.
• Quantum or CMOS process integration, dilution refrigerator, cryogenic control, RFIC, superconducting circuit, or superconducting interconnect experience.
• Python or other programming and scripting experience for task automation.
• Machine learning or AI-based digital design routing experience.
• Experience working with EDA tool vendors on customized design solutions.
