Senior Service Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut, United States. The role includes approximately 10% travel to customer and field sites across North America and Europe, on-call support for production systems, and requires legal authorization to work in the United States, a valid passport, and any work authorization needed for temporary international travel.

Salary: $109,000–$150,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead system builds, installations, upgrades, and complex maintenance activities.
• Act as the senior technical escalation point for cryogenic and electromechanical system troubleshooting in laboratory and field environments.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions for system issues.
• Partner with hardware engineering and R&D teams to improve system design, reliability, and serviceability.
• Standardize service procedures, troubleshooting workflows, incident response processes, and technical documentation.
• Support customers and partners, mentor junior engineers, and lead responses during critical production incidents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent education and experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting complex multidisciplinary electromechanical systems in laboratory or production environments.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, vacuum systems, and electromechanical systems.
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems and leading root cause analysis.
• Proficiency with scripting, PLC logic, or programming languages such as Python or C/C++.
• Strong communication, technical leadership, organizational, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring skills.
