TL;DR
Senior Design Release Engineer (Exterior Hardware and Sunroofs): Developing and launching exterior hardware and movable roof subsystems for vehicles with an accent on requirements, system integration, supplier coordination, and verification and validation. Focus on leading cross-functional product development teams, managing program timing and cost targets, resolving component and vehicle-level issues, and releasing hardware for prototype and production programs.

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid work with reporting to the location at least three times per week. Travel required up to 25%. Relocation benefits are not provided.

What you will do

  • Lead design release and development of exterior hardware and movable roof systems, including sunroofs.
  • Develop subsystem requirements, sourcing packages, engineering documentation, and prototype and production work orders.
  • Manage cross-functional Product Development Teams through vehicle development milestones, launch activities, and build events.
  • Coordinate system integration, supplier activities, and component- and system-level verification and validation.
  • Drive program timing, cost targets, cost reductions, product improvements, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with engineering, styling, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, plant teams, and multiple suppliers.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of engineering and product development experience.
  • Experience with actuated kinematic systems and exterior hardware or movable roof systems.
  • Ability to write and interpret hardware requirements and work with vehicle system integration and Design for Manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of DFSS and Red X methodologies and experience with Teamcenter.

Nice to have

  • MS in Engineering.
  • Hardware development, testing, and associated tools experience.
  • FIT DFMEA training, launch experience, Red X training, or DFSS Black Belt certification.
