Mechanical Product Design Engineer I (Automotive)

Location: Gaffney, South Carolina, United States; onsite. The position is open to applicants who can work in or relocate to Gaffney. Relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $71,000–$91,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Develop, design, and integrate ICE powertrains for heavy-duty specialty vehicles, including engines, transmissions, cooling packages, exhaust systems, and aftertreatment systems.
• Use CAE, FEA, MBS, and fatigue analysis to solve complex vehicle design problems.
• Design mechanical products, components, and moving systems using mechanical engineering principles.
• Collaborate with marketing and industrial design teams to meet technical, functional, manufacturing, cost, and efficiency requirements.
• Support the design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype mechanical products and assemblies.
• Contribute to product-specific manufacturing processes and equipment when required.

Requirements

• BSME or BSMET degree required.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience required.
• Basic understanding of theories, practices, and procedures related to mechanical engineering.
• Ability to analyze information and problems using standard practices and procedures.
• Working 3D design experience, strong oral and written communication skills, and practical engineering experience are valuable.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application; visa sponsorship and existing visa holders are not accepted.
