Mechanical Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Saginaw, Michigan, United States. Full-time onsite presence is required, with the ability to work off shifts, weekends, and overtime when needed. Relocation benefits may be available under company policy.

What you will do

• Provide mechanical and manufacturing engineering support for production operations, Skilled Trades, and maintenance teams.
• Investigate equipment and conveyance problems, lead technical troubleshooting, and provide direction for production departments.
• Manage mechanical engineering projects covering new installations, refurbishment, replacement, continuous improvement, and equipment sustainment.
• Support launch activities, new-model conveyance and process-equipment planning, throughput improvements, and common equipment designs.
• Coordinate with Vehicle Systems engineering, Facilities, plant leadership, contractors, suppliers, union management, and cross-functional teams.
• Develop cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests, budgets, and manpower plans while improving safety, uptime, throughput, energy efficiency, and maintenance costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience such as skilled trades journeyman status.
• 3+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Previous skilled trades supervision and the ability to manage people.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work off shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Must be able to work onsite full-time in Saginaw, Michigan, United States and must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• 6+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience as a conveyor engineer or in manufacturing and maintenance roles.
• Knowledge of plant layouts, process requirements, throughput, simulation, and conveyor systems.
• Experience with Safety Contractor Management, Workplace Safety Systems, or related performance standards.
• Familiarity with NX software.
