CAE Body Structure Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States. Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote; must be able to report to the local office.

What you will do

• Gather engineering information, build and run analytical models, interpret results, and communicate findings to customers and development teams.
• Create and execute Finite Element Analysis plans for assigned vehicle development projects.
• Perform structural analysis of complete trimmed vehicle structures, including BIW, chassis, interior structure, fixed glass, bumpers, modules, battery systems, and closures.
• Lead the development of new engineering analysis capabilities and coordinate CAE suppliers and internal resources.
• Assess designs against performance requirements, recommend mass- and cost-efficient solutions, and support validation and release engineers.
• Plan test and development programs and use CAE to explain physical test results and resolve engineering issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Five years of experience as a CAE Engineer, Automotive Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or in a related role.
• Five years of experience with 2D and 3D CAD modeling and Finite Element Analysis tools.
• Experience with structural durability analysis and simulations using N Code, including Design Life.
• Experience with linear and non-linear simulations using Abaqus, Nastran, and Dyna.
• Experience analyzing complete trimmed vehicle structures and developing new engineering analysis capabilities.
