Senior Structural & Multibody Dynamics Simulation Engineer (MBD/FEA)

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States. Travel is less than 10%.

Salary: $112,710–$169,060 per year.

What you will do

• Lead structural and multibody dynamics simulations for crankshafts, camshafts, connecting rods, bearings, geartrains, and related engine systems.
• Partner with component, platform, test, and design teams to scope analyses and deliver durability and performance assessments.
• Use MBD, FEA, and engine-system expertise to troubleshoot complex issues, evaluate design trade-offs, and perform root cause analysis.
• Improve simulation standard work, including model setup, correlation, result interpretation, quality checks, and documentation.
• Translate simulation results into risks, options, and actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance through coaching, technical reviews, training, and collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• Substantial experience with MBD and FEA analysis.
• Experience analyzing rotating engine components and systems.
• Advanced FEA experience with Abaqus, Nastran, ANSYS, or equivalent software.
• Experience with multibody dynamics tools such as RUMBLE/BEAR, AVL EXCITE, Adams, Virtual.Lab Motion, or similar platforms.
• Ability to develop, validate, and correlate simulation models against test measurements and field data.

Nice to have

• Experience with engine dynamics, vibration, bearing performance, and crank-train behavior.
• Experience supporting engine development programs, design reviews, and field reliability investigations.
