Controls Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing) (PLC/Robotics/Machine Vision): Designing and supporting advanced controls and automation systems for automotive body shop manufacturing operations with an accent on Allen Bradley PLCs, FANUC robots, industrial networks, and machine vision. Focus on integrating high-volume production systems, developing 3D vision-based bin picking, reducing downtime, and solving complex automation reliability and troubleshooting challenges.

Location: Arlington, Texas; hybrid schedule with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote; must be able to report to the local office.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, document, and implement controls and automation systems for automotive body shop manufacturing operations.
  • Program, configure, integrate, and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs, Safety Logic, Siemens TIA Portal HMIs, VFDs, and industrial communication networks.
  • Integrate and optimize FANUC robots for material handling, spot welding, dispensing, and vision-guided operations.
  • Develop and maintain machine vision, 3D vision bin picking, conveyance, error-proofing, RFID, barcode, and torque verification systems.
  • Analyze production data, perform root cause analysis, and lead improvements in cycle time, downtime, throughput, quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Provide real-time production support and collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and maintenance teams on integration, launches, and system optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer, or in a related occupation.
  • At least 2 years of experience designing, programming, and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs with Safety Logic, HMI systems, industrial networks, machine vision, conveyance systems, VFDs, and error-proofing technologies.
  • At least 1 year of experience programming and troubleshooting FANUC robots, supporting 3D vision-based bin picking, and optimizing high-volume manufacturing operations.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Python and SQL.
  • Must be able to report to the local Arlington office for the hybrid schedule.
