Automation & Controls Engineer Co-op/Intern

Location: On-site in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY

Hourly rate: $21.00–$25.00

What you will do

• Support automation projects from requirements gathering and functional specifications through design, programming, fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Develop control-system architectures, P&IDs, instrumentation specifications, and automation equipment specifications.
• Create electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Develop PLC code and configure HMI applications with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Prepare bills of materials, technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, trades, project managers, clients, and senior or principal engineer mentors during meetings and design reviews.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a BS and/or MS in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with CAD software or tools.
• Ability to work on-site in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a project team.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to learn through technical and hands-on project work.

Nice to have

• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, or Schneider PLC platforms and/or industrial robotics.
• Previous co-op, internship, academic project, or other experience with industrial equipment or automation engineering and design.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, CSIA, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar quality and continuous improvement systems.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
