Privacy By Design Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas or Warren, Michigan, with attendance at the Austin Technical Center or Warren Global Technical Center at least three days per week.

Base compensation: $119,200–$188,050 per year, plus potential incentive pay and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain privacy-by-design solutions for enterprise platforms, digital products, analytics, AI systems, and vehicle technologies.
• Engineer controls for vehicle identifiers, telemetry, diagnostics, customer data, sensor data, connected services, and downstream data ecosystems across the full data lifecycle.
• Implement pseudonymization, tokenization, encryption, masking, obfuscation, consent management, access control, data minimization, DLP integrations, and privacy-enhancing technologies.
• Integrate privacy requirements into applications, platforms, APIs, data pipelines, software, analytics, AI, and vehicle development processes.
• Provide privacy engineering guidance during design reviews, support implementation and troubleshooting, and remediate privacy-related defects and risks.
• Contribute to privacy standards, reference architectures, technical documentation, impact assessments, audits, control validation, and compliance reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, cybersecurity, architecture, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience implementing privacy, security, data protection, or governance controls.
• Strong understanding of Privacy by Design principles, data protection concepts, software development, analysis, and problem-solving.
• Experience collaborating with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Cybersecurity, or Data Governance stakeholders.
• Work authorization in the United States is required; hirify.global does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

Nice to have

• Experience with privacy engineering, security engineering, or governance solutions in enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other global privacy regulations and frameworks.
• Experience with cloud platforms, enterprise data platforms, analytics ecosystems, and API architectures.
• Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or data platform solutions with embedded governance controls.
• Experience with connected vehicle, automotive software, embedded engineering, privacy-enhancing technologies, consent management, or data lifecycle management.
