Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Camera ISP)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid attendance at a specific location at least three times per week. Travel required up to 25%. Relocation benefits are available for qualifying candidates.

Base compensation: $174,900–$250,200 per year, plus potential incentive pay.

What you will do

• Deliver Camera Image Signal Processing tuning optimized for autonomous vehicle use cases.
• Define specifications, develop software, and evaluate image quality with camera hardware, embedded software, systems, sensor, machine learning, and vendor teams.
• Design objective and subjective image quality evaluations using lab charts, real-world scenes, Imatest, and custom test scripts.
• Characterize image sensors and tune HDR configurations, ISP settings, and sensor operating modes for autonomous driving.
• Troubleshoot image quality issues with sensor validation and vehicle fleet teams.
• Architect sensing strategies and develop techniques to optimize ISP performance for machine perception.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in imaging science, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field, with 4+ years of hands-on camera ISP tuning and evaluation experience.
• Hands-on experience with AE, AWB, HDR processing, noise reduction, sharpness, tone mapping, and color tuning.
• Experience with ISP architectures, camera development, image sensor characterization, and sensor settings.
• Experience with at least one image quality evaluation tool, preferably Imatest.
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Python, plus experience in image processing and data analysis.
• Hybrid work in San Francisco, California, with attendance required at least three times per week.

Nice to have

• Automotive ISP tuning experience.
• Exposure to firmware design or real-time systems.
• Experience with vendor management and manufacturing processes.
• Experience optimizing camera ISP and sensor settings for ADAS, autonomous driving, computer vision, or machine learning.
• Experience assessing optical and sensor hardware impacts on image quality and ISP trade-offs.
