Machine Learning Engineer (Computer Vision)

Location: Remote within the United States; applicants must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, Asylee, or Refugee.

Salary: $128,000–$215,600 annually, depending on location and qualifications.

What you will do

• Build scalable pipelines for satellite imagery, metadata, sensor information, acquisition data, and geolocation attributes.
• Move data reliably between annotation, storage, and model training systems while maintaining lineage and versioning.
• Develop, fine-tune, and deploy machine learning and computer vision models that generate proposed annotations.
• Build and operate batch or real-time inference pipelines, evaluate model performance, and manage model versions.
• Use model feedback to prioritize imagery for labeling and reduce manual annotation effort and turnaround time.
• Collaborate with domain experts, annotation partners, machine learning engineers, and software engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in machine learning engineering, data engineering, backend software engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience training or adapting deep learning models and deploying them to production.
• Experience with cloud compute, databases, storage, identity and access management, and workflow orchestration.
• Experience with containerized services, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, secure configuration, debugging, and incident response.
• Strong Python application development skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, machine learning, data engineering, geospatial science, GIS, remote sensing, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, IAM, service accounts, and Vertex AI.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, PostGIS, schema migrations, and spatial data modeling.
• Experience processing satellite or aerial imagery, GeoTIFF, coordinate reference systems, GDAL, Rasterio, Shapely, Fiona, or GeoPandas.
• Experience with computer vision tasks such as object detection, semantic segmentation, instance segmentation, or change detection.
