Staff Engineer - Equipment Projects (Medical Device Automation)

Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia. The role is primarily onsite, with a hybrid working arrangement also offered.

What you will do

• Manage equipment engineering projects from RFQ and supplier coordination through milestones, SAT, commissioning, and final equipment release.
• Develop project concepts and feasibility studies while considering investment and production costs.
• Apply global quality requirements and verify technical compliance through acceptance testing.
• Coordinate with R&D on product development and design for manufacturability.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Procurement to improve quality, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support training and provide recommendations for developing junior project managers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in machine design and development for medical device engineering projects.
• Experience with process improvement, automation technologies, Industry 4.0, and digital manufacturing.
• Project management experience delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
• Experience working in a highly regulated environment and analyzing complex technical data.
• Ability to assess and manage project risks, escalate issues, execute contingency plans, and coordinate multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, analytical, and business judgment skills.
