Principal C&SP Methodology Lead (SAS/R/Python)

What you will do

• Provide technical project leadership for Clinical and Statistical Programming initiatives, innovation programs, and standard tools development.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement automation and continuous improvement opportunities with internal users, external stakeholders, and partner functions.
• Develop and oversee technical solutions, including SAS macros, R functions and packages, and tools that automate clinical and statistical programming activities.
• Design implementation plans, documentation, training materials, and adoption strategies for global departmental solutions.
• Improve application performance and recommend technical strategy using emerging technologies and methods.
• Lead or support team allocation, coaching, talent development, and cross-functional delivery with Data Management, Biostatistics, IT, Data Sciences, and related groups.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, mathematics, data science, public health, or another relevant scientific field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 6–8 years of programming experience with increasing responsibility.
• Expertise in software development and testing across technical stacks including SAS, R, and Python.
• Ability to translate complex problems into clear programming code and tools, with basic project management experience.
• Knowledge of programming practices, clinical R&D concepts, and health authority guidelines including ICH-GCP and 21 CFR Part 11.
• Strong communication, prioritization, negotiation, and matrix-environment leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of CDISC standards, including SDTM, controlled terminology, and ADaM.
• Experience with the software development life cycle, business operations tools, DevOps, and cloud platforms.
• People management, performance management, and staff development experience.
