(USA) Director, Data Science - Operations Research

Location: Walmart Home Office, Bentonville, Arkansas, United States

Salary: $130,000–$260,000 annual base salary, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the development and deployment of advanced data science solutions aligned with business strategy.
• Oversee the coding, testing, validation, and lifecycle management of machine learning models.
• Translate complex business requirements into actionable data strategies and technical initiatives.
• Guide data source identification, quality assessment, and integration for scalable analytics.
• Manage and mentor data science teams while fostering technical expertise and innovation.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Technology, and other stakeholders to improve supply chain decisions and business value.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in data science, machine learning algorithms, and advanced analytical modeling.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Java for development, testing, and deployment.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to translate technical insights into actionable strategies.
• Expertise in data strategy, data quality assessment, and scalable data source integration.
• Leadership experience mentoring teams, managing projects, and driving continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of analytics experience, master’s degree with 4 years of experience, or 8 years of experience in analytics or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with optimization models, operations research, statistics, econometrics, or applied mathematics.
• Experience with Python, Spark, Scala, or R assessments and open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Torch.
• PhD in machine learning, computer science, information technology, operations research, statistics, or applied mathematics.
• Supervisory experience and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies.
