Data Scientist, Geospatial

Location: Houston, United States; on-site with hybrid collaboration at customer offices

Base salary: $140,000–$150,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Collaborate directly with customer geospatial and GIS teams to understand workflows, integrate systems, and solve spatial challenges.
• Build predictive risk models using LiDAR, terrain, weather, and utility infrastructure data to simulate conductor and vegetation risks.
• Translate spatial and structural risk metrics into insights for utility capital investment and grid hardening.
• Build and maintain pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, vectorizing, and integrating diverse geospatial datasets.
• Establish QA/QC benchmarks for spatial accuracy, CRS transformations, and structural alignment.
• Mentor colleagues on model training, data analytics, and data-driven product development.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science or machine learning.
• Strong quantitative reasoning and the ability to present complex findings to customers and senior leaders.
• Experience working across technical teams and external customer stakeholders.
• Ability to take ownership of complex projects, adapt to changing priorities, and solve problems in messy real-world datasets.
• Ability to work on-site in Houston and in a hybrid customer-facing setting.

• Experience with geospatial data or power-grid systems.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-growth scale-up technology environments.
