Lab Manager, RUO (NGS)

Location: San Carlos, California, United States; onsite laboratory operations.

Salary: $102,300–$127,950 USD annually, plus additional compensation and benefits.

Healthcare and biotechnology organization developing cell-free DNA testing and personalized genetic testing for oncology, women’s health, and organ health.

What you will do

• Manage the physical operations, organization, cleanliness, consumables, and safety of a high-throughput NGS research laboratory.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, repairs, service visits, and vendor relationships for sequencers, liquid handlers, qPCR/dPCR systems, centrifuges, and thermal cyclers.
• Own inventory management for reagents, consumables, controls, samples, freezers, and refrigerators, including capacity planning, chain of custody, lot tracking, and expiration control.
• Maintain equipment protocols, maintenance logs, laboratory documentation, and audit-ready records.
• Partner with Facilities, Engineering, EH&S, Procurement, IT, the Director, and project leads to keep contracted research projects on schedule.
• Onboard staff to laboratory systems and safety practices and provide data-backed operational metrics to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field.
• At least two years of hands-on laboratory experience; laboratory management experience is strongly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and EH&S compliance.
• Practical knowledge of LIMS and database query tools.
• Strong organization, prioritization, problem-solving, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work onsite in San Carlos, California.
